The Narrative

Artistic Statement

"A selected artwork from Bivakumana Patience, reviewed for public collection visibility."

In 2022, I created this work. Later, in the context of a competition about postpartum experiences, I slightly distorted its meaning to fit that theme. But here is the original intention I carried in my heart: a meditation on maternal love, sacrifice, and the silent strength that shapes a child’s growth. the work evokes both the melancholy and serenity of early motherhood. The fragmented, cubist lines across the mother’s face symbolize the internal divisions she carries—emotional fractures, fatigue, and silent struggles. Yet her surface remains composed, polished, and nurturing. This duality reflects a profound maternal instinct: to shield the child from her own turmoil so the baby may grow in peace. The act of breastfeeding, central to the composition, becomes a metaphor for unconditional love and sacrifice. The mother’s beaded necklace, a subtle cultural marker, anchors her identity and strength. Despite her internal storm, she offers warmth, nourishment, and stability. #Affection #Sacrifice #Baby blues #Resilience #Tenderness #Nurturing #Emotional struggle #Silent strength #Unconditional love #Protection Healing #emotionalart #Growth and hope
